Pepsi Kona 1999

Once upon a time, circa 1998 or 1999, I was living in Philadelphia when Pepsi launched a new drink, a blend of pepsi and coffee, and called it Kona.

Has anyone out there heard of Pepsi Kona? No one I've asked. And there's a good reason for that. The drink was pepsi with a coffee after-taste. In a word: revolting.

Now, six years later, some idiots at Coke have come up with the same dumb idea. Read about it here.

Coca-Cola Co. , the world's No. 1 soft drink company, on Wednesday said it will launch a coffee-infused soft drink called Coca-Cola Blak in various markets around the world in 2006.

Yeah. So much for corporate espianage. Apparently, Coca-Cola didn't have any employees in Philly in 1999.
